Ce projet est né d'un bouche-à-oreille. Épatant Paris cherchait un intervenant pour une installation végétale ambitieuse dans l'atrium de Grand Paris Aménagement. Plusieurs professionnels avaient été consultés, le budget était serré. C'est une amie commune, accessoiriste sur ce projet comme elle l'avait été sur les Jeux Paralympiques d'Athènes en 2004, qui leur a parlé de moi.
Quand ils m'ont décrit le décor envisagé, ma réponse a été immédiate : faisable, mais il fallait trouver une solution sur le budget. J'ai localisé un stock de plantes anciennes dans une pépinière près de Nantes, des végétaux avec du volume et du caractère, cédés en lot à prix réduit. Quelques espèces complémentaires soigneusement choisies, et l'installation a pris une ampleur que personne n'anticipait. Des sons d'oiseaux diffusés dans l'atrium complétaient l'ensemble : l'effet était saisissant. En franchissant l'entrée du bâtiment, on basculait instantanément dans un univers sauvage et naturel, loin de tout repère urbain.
Le résultat a surpris tout le monde. À tel point que Grand Paris Aménagement a décidé de laisser une partie du décor en place après l'événement. Preuve que l'installation avait trouvé sa place dans le lieu.
This project came through word of mouth. Épatant Paris was looking for someone to deliver an ambitious plant installation in the atrium of Grand Paris Aménagement. Several professionals had been consulted and the budget was tight. A mutual friend — a props stylist who had worked on this project as she had on the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games — recommended me.
When they described the envisaged design, my response was immediate: achievable, but we needed to find a solution within the budget. I located a stock of mature plants at a nursery near Nantes — plants with volume and character, available as a lot at a reduced price. A few carefully chosen complementary species, and the installation took on a scale nobody had anticipated. Birdsong played through the atrium completed the effect: it was striking. Stepping through the building entrance, you were instantly transported into a wild, natural world far removed from any urban reference.
The result surprised everyone. So much so that Grand Paris Aménagement decided to leave part of the installation in place after the event. Proof that it had found its rightful place in the space.
